About Castle Finn

Castle Finn is an emerging Freak Folk band in Champaign-Urbana, led by songwriter Patrick Murphy. They blur the lines between Psychedelic Folk and Retro-Rock with roots in Motown and Soul. Castle Finn performs as a dynamic 5-piece band that employs a variety of colorful and emotional elements that wake the imagination.

 

Murphy began writing in his family's forested oasis of central Illinois which is the namesake of the band.  Newly relocated in Champaign, IL, Castle Finn has picked up a diverse group of musicians including Aaron Wilson of Killbourne Alley and Noah Larson of the Booth Blues. Their zealous bass and drum lines, electro-pop keys, along with riffy guitar and vocal motifs create matrix that defines their psychedelic sound.
